My artwork will be hanging in a place that gets direct sunlight. What can I do to prevent sun damage? |
Although nothing is a 100% preventative, we are always very resistant to use anything less than Tru Vue Conservation Clear glass, which is regular clear glass with a 98% UV protectant in it. The price for Conservation Clear is not much more than regular clear glass and will make a tremendous difference in the life of your piece. If your piece is very large, you might consider using plexiglass instead of glass. Plexi is available with the same 98% UV protectant in it as well. Tru Vue has non-glare and museum grade glasses available as well—both with the UV protectant already built in.
In more severe cases of strong direct sunlight, we might suggest to you that you consider hanging your piece elsewhere, especially if it is a piece of great sentimental or monetary value. If it is a concern, an Art Expressions Gallery consultant can schedule a house call with you to see your space.
