Blossom Sanger began painting at the age of 8 under the tutelage of her mother, the sculptor Doris Appel. But the influence of her father, a physician, led her to a career in medicine. After retirement from her practice in anesthesiology, she returned to her artistic roots, merging nature with technology in her floral images. Her original images are made directly from living flowers, after which the flowers are discarded-no further copies of the source material or image are retained. Each composition reflects the individual personality and mood of the flowers that were its inspiration, captured in a unique graphics method.
