Photography - Lyle Gomes
Lyle Gomes was named a 1998/99 Fulbright scholar for his photographic project: The British Landscape; The Synthesis of Nature with the Essence of Being. The Fulbright award plays a major part in Lyles Gomes' long-term landscape project, which he began in 1989. The first component of this project, The Presidio: A City Woodland was exhibited in 1994 by the Friends of Photography with a selection of images published within the Friends' inaugural issue of SEE: A Journal of Visual Culture. Lyle Gomes lives in northern California and serves on the faculty of the College of San Mateo where he is currently chair of the art department and coordinator of the photography program. His work is included in major collections including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris, France.
