Photography - Imogen Cunningham
Imogen Cunningham is a true pioneer in the field of photography. Imogen Cunningham operated her own portrait studio and was a founding member of Group f/64, a society of photographers who were devoted to furthering the art form through the unique qualities of the medium. She made clear, exquisitely detailed photographs while also interpreting the symbolism and inner structure of her chosen subjects. Throughout a career spanning seven decades, she produced a vast body of work marked by her distinctive treatment of portraits, nudes, and sensual botanical forms. Cunningham worked intensively until her death in 1976 at age 96. A new book chronicling Cunningham's 70-year career, Imogen Cunningham, has been released by Taschen America LLC.
